This is based on the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is widely considered the most accurate way to estimate BMR/TDEE.
TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure. It is the total number of calories you burn daily. It's calculated by first estimating your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and then multiplying that value by an activity multiplier. Since your BMR represents how many calories your body burns when at rest, it's necessary to adjust the numbers upwards based on how much you move during the day.
